What decides your project
The four inputs that size the work, then what a proposal includes and what you supply.
Wired or wireless?
Open walls take the wired system; finished walls take the wireless line, which swaps switches and adds keypads without opening anything.
How many rooms at once?
One room, the main floor, or the whole house. The load schedule sizes the panel; rooms can be added later against the same design.
Standard dimming or tunable?
Tunable fixtures earn their cost in rooms with little daylight and where finishes shift under different color temperature. Elsewhere standard dimming is the better spend.
Standalone or joined to a controller?
Lighting runs on its own with no controller in the closet, and the same system joins a Control4 or Savant platform later without being replaced.

Lutron Lighting Control
A room full of paddle switches asks you to remember which one does what. Lighting control replaces that with a keypad whose buttons are engraved with what they do: Entertain, Relax, Dine, All Off. The wiring behind the wall changes very little; what changes is that one press sets every fixture in the room to a level someone chose on purpose.
We are a Lutron Gold Dealer, and lighting is the system we specify first on most whole-home projects. Dimming happens at the load, so incandescent, LED, and low-voltage fixtures on the same scene come up together instead of one flickering at the bottom of its range. Keypads are engraved to the scene names your household actually uses, and the plate finishes are chosen alongside the rest of the hardware in the room.
Scenes are the design work. A morning level for the kitchen, a dinner level that leaves the island bright and the perimeter low, an all-off at the door you leave by — we write those with you, then revise them after the family has lived with them a week. After handover the Plano team keeps the processor on remote monitoring and answers (469) 666-0747 directly.

The Craft
The engraving is the decision
Plate finish and button text are settled before anything is ordered, because engraving is machined, not written on in the field. What the buttons say is what the household already calls those moments — Dine, Relax, All Off — so nobody has to be taught the wall.

Our Process
From switch wall to scenes
Six steps, and the last one happens a week after you think the job is finished.
Complimentary phone consultation
We start on a call: which rooms fight you, whether the walls are open or finished, and how much of the house you want to do at once. No charge, no obligation. If it is a fit, we book the walkthrough.
Walkthrough & scope
We go through the rooms with you and note what is actually annoying: the three-switch wall nobody can read, the pendant that buzzes at 40 percent, the hallway that is either off or blinding. You leave with a written scope and a line-item proposal.
Load schedule & keypad layout
Designers list every controlled load, group them into scenes, and lay out keypad positions and button counts on your floor plan. New construction gets a wiring drawing for the electrician; a finished home gets a wireless plan that says exactly which switches get swapped.
Engraving & finish selection
Button text and plate finishes are chosen before anything is ordered, because engraving is not a field change. We bring finish samples to the room they will live in rather than picking from a screen.
Installation & scene setting
Our technicians install and address the dimmers and keypads, then set levels room by room at the time of day the scene is meant for. An evening scene is set in the evening; it cannot be judged at noon.
Live-with-it revision
After a week we come back — or connect remotely — and change the levels the household has been working around. This visit is part of the scope, not a service call.
Property Types
Open walls or finished walls
Open walls or finished walls decide the method; the scenes come out the same either way.
New construction
Wired Lutron goes in with the rough electrical, so panels, keypad boxes, and the lighting closet are placed before drywall. We coordinate with your electrician on load schedules and with your builder on box heights, then program before move-in so the house works on day one.
Finished-home retrofit
The wireless line swaps existing switches for dimmers and adds keypads where the wall has no box. Nothing is opened, and work can stop at the end of any day with every light in the house still working. Most Plano and McKinney retrofits are phased by floor.
Renovations and single rooms
A kitchen or primary suite renovation is the cheapest moment to add lighting control, because the walls are already open and the fixtures are already being chosen. We scope the room being renovated and leave the panel sized for the rest of the house later.

Questions about lutron lighting control
01How much does a Lutron lighting system cost in a DFW home?
It follows the number of controlled loads, whether the system is wired or wireless, and how many keypads replace switches. After a complimentary consultation we write a line-item proposal for your house. We do not publish a single figure, because a two-room retrofit and a whole-home wired system are not the same project.
02Can lighting control go into a finished house?
Yes. The wireless Lutron line replaces existing switches and adds battery-powered Pico remotes and keypads without opening walls. Wired systems are the cleaner answer during construction, but a retrofit is routine work here, and it can be phased room by room or floor by floor.
03Do I have to buy automation to get lighting control?
No. Lighting works on its own — keypads, dimmers, and scenes, with no controller in the closet. If you later add a Control4 or Savant system, the same lighting joins it, and the scenes you already use become part of larger routines like Goodnight or Away.
04What is tunable lighting, and do I need it?
Tunable fixtures such as Ketra shift color temperature through the day — cooler and brighter in the morning, warmer in the evening. It matters most in rooms with little daylight and in spaces where the finishes change character under different light. It is a specification choice, not a default; we say where it earns its cost and where standard dimming is the better spend.
05What happens if the internet goes out?
Nothing you would notice. Keypads and dimmers talk to each other inside the house, so scenes keep running. Phone control from outside the house is the part that waits for the connection to come back.
06Who reprograms it later?
