Best Outdoor TVs for Texas Heat: 10 Models Compared

Quick answer
In full sun, Furrion Aurora Full-Sun Pro and Séura Full Sun publish the highest maximum here, 140°F. For a covered porch, Séura Shade Series 2 has the widest published range among the shade lines, −24°F to 140°F. SunBrite Veranda 4 is the shade model with a confirmed list price, US $2,398.95 for the 55-inch on SunBrite’s own store page.
Ten of the twelve 2026 model lines current on September 30, 2026 made the cut. The list covers the ten lines with the most facts on the makers’ pages; Furrion Aurora Partial-Sun 2 and Neptune Partial Sun were researched and left out for thinner published specs. The sun rating and the ingress or weatherproofing claim are stated for all ten. Brightness, operating range and warranty terms appear only where a maker’s own page states them. When a maker’s own pages disagree, this comparison marks the figure disputed and prints both with their sources. Lines run full sun first, then partial sun, then shade. Inside a group the higher published maximum leads, the lower figure counts where a maker’s pages disagree, and lines with no published maximum last.
How we chose
- The sun rating the maker states for the line (full shade, partial sun, full sun)
- The published maximum operating temperature, set against DFW heat (NWS Dallas/Fort Worth: July normal high 95.6°F, all-time record 113°F)
- Published brightness in nits, copied as the maker states it (peak, sustained or typical)
- The IP rating on the maker's spec page
- Warranty language for outdoor use, in the maker's own words
- Price, only when the seller's own page states one for a stated size
Compared on published specifications as of September 30, 2026.
Digitalholics installs outdoor TVs and is a Control4 dealer. SunBrite is part of Snap One, the company behind Control4. Placement below follows the stated order, not that relationship.
What DFW heat means for an outdoor TV
The heat numbers come from the National Weather Service forecast office at Fort Worth, measured at DFW Airport (US, DFW). July’s normal high there is 95.6°F on the 30-year normals. The station record is 113°F, set in June 1980. Days at or above 100°F are ordinary enough to plan around. There were 55 in 2023, 23 in 2024 and 7 in 2025. The count reached 52 in 2026 through the September 22 update, which the table marks as subject to change. August 2026 alone recorded 27 such days, tied for second on the weather service’s monthly ranking.
Set those air temperatures against the operating ranges the makers publish. Samsung’s US page prints no maximum for The Terrace Full Sun. SunBrite lists 122°F for the Pro 2 on the product page and 104°F on its comparison PDF. The other published maxima in this comparison are 122°F or 140°F, above both the 95.6°F normal high and the 113°F record. At the lower 104°F figure the Pro 2 clears the normal high but not the record. That headroom is air temperature only. It is not a sun-load test. A panel in direct afternoon sun runs hotter than the surrounding air. Samsung’s own footnote for The Terrace Full Sun draws the same line. The panel is protected “up to 6 hours in sunlight at 700 watts and 104°F”. Brightness may decrease in high temperature or sunlight, Samsung warns. Many August afternoons at DFW sit near or above that 104°F figure.
Power is the part of the install a spec sheet cannot settle. The NEC requires GFCI protection for receptacle outlets installed outdoors, 125 volts through 250 volts. NEC 210.8(F) extends that protection to readily accessible outdoor outlets. Both rows come from Minnesota’s Department of Labor and Industry checklist for the 2023 NEC, an official code-summary page rather than a Texas adoption document. A wet-location receptacle must be a listed weather-resistant device in an enclosure that is weatherproof with the cord inserted, with covers marked “extra duty”. North Carolina’s Office of State Fire Marshal reads NEC 406.9(B) to require an in-use cover that stays weatherproof whether or not a plug is inserted. SunBrite’s Veranda 4 datasheet specifies a GFCI-protected 100-240 VAC supply. That is maker language in line with outdoor-receptacle GFCI practice, not a substitute for the authority having jurisdiction in Plano or your city. Texas adopts the NEC through local amendments.

How to choose an outdoor TV for your wall
Start from the wall, not the spec sheet. Stand where the TV will hang at mid-afternoon in July and note what the sun is doing. Full shade under a deep porch is one case. A few hours of low-angle sun is partial sun. Direct sun for most of the day is full sun. Makers differ in how many exposures they cover, which makes the listing label the first filter. Séura’s current lines are Full Sun and Shade Series 2 only. Next is size. The lines here span 32 to 85 inches depending on the series, so check the size list before the shortlist. Platform comes after that: webOS Hub, Google TV, Samsung’s SmartHub and the webOS build in SunBrite’s spec table.
Skip the category entirely if the screen would live behind glass. An indoor TV in a sealed cabinet or behind a window is still an indoor TV in an uncontrolled space. The makers’ warranty texts do not rescue it. SunBrite’s comparison table gives a typical indoor TV “Safe for Outdoor Use: No” and “Warranty for Outdoor Use: No”. LG’s TV limited warranty excludes “Damage or failure of the Product caused by abnormal conditions or an environment where the temperature and humidity is not adequately controlled”. The same warranty excludes use “in other than normal intended use”. Samsung’s home-entertainment terms exclude “uses for which this product was not intended” and failures to follow the manual’s “environmental instructions”. The safety section says, “Do not install the product in an area where it is exposed to direct sunlight”. That page asks you to contact Samsung before installing in “heavy dust, high or low temperatures, high humidity… or where it will operate 24 hours a day”. A cover does not appear as an exception in either warranty text.
FAQ
Is a published operating-temperature range a sun-load test?
No. An operating range describes the air around the TV. Direct sun heats the panel above air temperature. That is why Samsung states direct-sun panel protection for up to 6 hours at 104°F and 700 watts. Samsung adds that brightness may decrease in high temperature or sunlight.
Can an indoor TV go outside under a covered patio?
The warranty texts fetched for this comparison treat a cover as no exception. LG excludes failures caused by uncontrolled temperature and humidity. Samsung’s terms exclude unintended uses. The SunBrite comparison table answers “No” on both safe outdoor use and outdoor warranty for an ordinary indoor TV.
What do full-sun, partial-sun and shade ratings mean?
They are placement phrases each maker assigns to its own lines, not a lab standard. SunBrite separates Veranda (full shade), Signature (indirect sun) and Pro 2 (full sun). Samsung splits The Terrace into Partial Sun and Full Sun. Séura’s current lines are Full Sun and Shade Series 2 only, and Furrion splits Aurora into Partial-Sun 2 and Full-Sun Pro. Neptune names Full Sun, Partial Sun and Shade. Match the phrase to the sun your wall gets at mid-afternoon.
What power and cover does an outdoor TV need?
An outdoor receptacle with GFCI protection, in a wet-location in-use cover marked extra duty, weatherproof with or without a plug inserted. SunBrite calls for a GFCI-protected 100-240 VAC supply on the Veranda 4 datasheet. Local amendments decide the rest, so confirm with your city’s electrical inspector.
